Chocolate Strawberry and Vanilla

These little girls are my joy!
And right now they have a Neapolitan of hair color.
With a blonde, read head and a dark baby fuzzy brunette, I have one of each today.
I know tithe growing up the baby hair color fades and other colors show up as they
grow so we will see what in store for them in the future.

Dressing up!

We love to dress up and so Halloween is one of our favorite times!
I also  love to sew and create which causes me to get excited too.

I had a lot of fun making costumes for my littles and wanted to share them with you.

Little red riding hood here was inspired by our Norwegian grandma.  I wanted to have a bit of flavor of that here.  It was fun to mix and match fabrics together to make her apron.  I love how her cape turned out too.  I laid her on tissue paper and traced her out and then created the pattern from that.

Alice in Wonderland was lots of fun.  I was inspired by a vintage illustration from the book.  She was really delighted to have felt Mushrooms for her pockets.  I made her voile apron with some bound scalloped edges that I traced on with an erasable ink pen.  I was delighted with her whimsy.

Ha ha my boy wanted to be Batman.  A charter that he has been before.  I thought about making him have quilted muscles across his chest but decided to stick with the jumpsuit pattern I had and spent my time on the utility belt of vinyl.

Sushi Baby!  I love this one.  She is of course "supper" cute!  I had seen onsies online for sushi of various types.  I decided to make a long sleeve, long pant leg version with shrimp.  Then made a skull cap with a swirl of Wasabi and a ruffle of Ginger.  She is delicious!

Oh.... "Let it Go...."  This one really wanted to be Elsa from that movie.  Since we had a sparkly dress already I said okay.  To give it the Ice Queen her regal flare I made a cape of sparkly netting over pale blue nylon chiffon.  I sewed a simple shrug then attached a long dragging cape with loops for her fingers.  With some snowflake ornaments and silver painted crown we found at our Goodwill she was ready.  Okay..... so I caved and put really blond highlights in her hair and attached super blonde hair extensions so she could have that crazy white blonde look for that day.  She loved it and that is what matters.  .....let it go....

Rainbow Loom made her own costume all by herself.  The only thing I did was help her cut strips of old teeshirts with a a rotary cutter to make her bands to go on her loom.  She is super duper creative.

EllaFun Party

Meet Ella, Bella, and Boo the elephant sisters.
I sewed these darlings for my little girls birthday.

For her birthday I want to have fun with a girly Elephant theme.
I collected fun treats like Circus Peanuts, cotton candy and Taffy as well as Fruit Loops.
Parties should be geared for the kids and not too grown up, right?

I got some fun milk bottles from Hobby Lobby that I put chocolate milk in.
My mom contributed the paper straws. I love those. These glass bottles are
not kid friendly and I discovered that quite quickly, but they were fun.

My sister in law is a cake genius.  She helped me decorating the cupcakes.  I
had a loose idea of making an elephant with fondant.  She took that and made these
darling "ellie" heads and embellished with juju flowers.  We stuck them in the middle
of super yummy strawberry frosting loaded with yummy strawberries and cream cheese.

My precious little one loved it. "My tate" she said of her cupcake.
"My mook."  (milk)

A Bakery Birthday!

My L loves baking and especially loves cupcakes.
Delight was gifted her by my mother for her birthday.
My mom put together a little shop with a pass through window.
For the awning she hung up a sheet, saving a portion to use as a table cloth.
She set up a tiered table to display toy treats and had real goodies for the kids to "buy" and eat.
The kids would point to a toy treat and order and my girl would fill their order.
My mom kept it really simple and had on hand inexpensive cookies (she purchased for $1)
to use in the shop for when children made orders.  The fun thing about those was that she had
play cookies in the same styles as the real cookies.

Opening Gifts and sending cookie gift boxes home!
Simple origami boxes filled with cookies for the favors.

I was super happy with how much fun everyone had and thanks to my
wonderful mother I didn't do any party work!
