Finished this project March 16th all 7lb 9oz of him.

I was totally pampered and catered too for my baby shower.

My friend made these really cute cake pops, like lolipops!
She followed the theme of aqua and green even on the inside.
The cake was colored blue or green so when you bit into it the color contrasted.
She is so-ooo creative. Move over Martha Stewart!

Keeping the blue and green she made really yummy trifle!
I loved it!

My sister gave me a couple really cute things for my new baby.
Didn't she decorate her package so cute too.

Cute and I can see my boy wearing it to church.

Check out my collection. I am on modified bed rest and had to think of something to do with my hands to keep me from dying of boredom or restlessness.
So I sit in the rocking recliner and crochet around my flannel blankets.
I don't think a mom can have too many flannel blankets. You never know when spit up will happen.
This blanket has not gotten its edging yet. I sewed bird shapes on it to prevent the layers from moving around. I need to find a teal or aqua crochet thread. I love this birdie print, don;t you?!
This blanket was a receiving blanket set by Carters (I think?) I took 2 single layers of flannel and sewed them right sides together and insided it out. I need to decide how to edge this one too. I have already stitched circles around in random places to prevent shifting in the wash.
These two are fleece blankets that I sewed years ago to give as gifts but never did. So I pulled them out of my stash for my little guy to use. Fleece it warm for snowy days and perfect to wrap around the baby in the car seat.
Here is a onsie I embellished with an applique giraffe. I found the onsie at the dollar store and used fabric from my stash.
Sitting and resting and putting up my feet... well I am trying to make the best of it and not get bummed out, by sewing. Though when this kiddo comes I might go on a sewing strike. LOL!

I wanted to try this idea for a while and this little pair of overalls seemed the perfect time to try it out!
I stamped a design onto the area I wished to embroider.
Then I set about back stitching the lined design.
Very very simple to do and I am glad I did try out this idea.
Perhaps I will try a more involved design next time.

Flower girl flowers

spent about $12.oo to make hair accessories for my little girls hair then spent the afternoon sewing ribbons and hot gluing and securing barrettes!
Every little girl deserves to feel beautiful and included. So I have been making sure that my girls are both. My brother is getting married this Saturday. I am using dresses I sewed a couple years ago for Christmas (the little one we are sharing with my niece so she can feel pretty too) and a black dress my mom handed down to my daughter.
Today along with the hair ribbons I purchased shoes and tights to wear with the dresses.
Here are the dresses including the one I made for me peeking in the back.
While analysing the reason I decided to go to this trouble, (we aren't a part of the wedding party) I remembered something. Something big in my 10 year old little girl life.
Years ago my mom's only sister was getting married. Of course my mom was asked to be matron of honor. With her skills she went to work sewing mauve pink chiffon gowns one for herself and one for the flower girl. Now seeing the dress though all the stages of creation I assumed it was for me. My mom even had me try it on with hoop slip underneath. It was so pretty.
Then as the day to go to the wedding came mom said goodbye and went to catch a plane without me (and the rest of the family too). I was devastated! I felt robbed. Even today when I look at pictures from my aunts wedding and see my mom with her rosey mauve chiffon standing next my cousin in a matching rosey chiffon gown with her hooped slip underneath (she lived close by and did not need to travel to be a participant) I have this old dissapointed feeling inside.
Today as this memory came to mind I reallised this is the reason I went to all the trouble to make my girls feel like flower girls even though we aren't part of the wedding party.
Wow! anyways.... Saturday we we will all be beautiful and feel included, special and have a great time. At least that is my hope and plan.
